We have the privilege of meeting so many great applicants each month for the StreetShares Commander’s Call Veteran Business Award. Thank you to all the awesome veteran and military spouse owned business that participated in July! We are proud to announce the five finalists:


KOTA Longboards describes themselves as “thrill seekers, veterans, pilots, skiers, bikers, athletes, outdoor nuts, and, of course, longboarders.” A Colorado based company, KOTA is run by military aviators. KOTA’s handcrafted longboards include military editions where veterans and active duty soldiers can personalize a deck with their insignia and badges of honor.sbsQ4kSuite & Artist is a media company that helps creative people and businesses promote, protect and profit from their creative work, with the goal of empowering artists to succeed in business. The company handles the outreach, grants, sponsorships, insurance, sales and marketing side of a business so the artists can focus on their craft.

1431114385SafeTacMag was started by three Marine veterans who experienced the loss of a friend and fellow Marine after getting shot during an urban combat training exercise. The team designed an M16/M14 training magazine to prevent accidental discharges of live ammunition during military and police training exercises.Their product feeds blanks into service rifles seamlessly without causing jams.

the-rosie-network-480x463The Rosie Network works to strengthen today’s military-spouse and veteran business owners by providing resources to help their companies grow and flourish. The company was founded in 2012 by the wives of active duty Navy SEALS in the spirit of the iconic World War II American military spouse, Rosie the Riveter.  11133794_10153213430133627_7718765272562142668_n

FleetSheets hopes to improve the quality of life of military members onboard ships and submarines by providing custom designed, fitted sheets for racks. The company’s products started as an inspired gift from the grandmother of a veteran who handcrafted a fitted sheet for her grandson during his time in the service—FleetSheets is making sure that tradition lives on by providing sailors with a little home comfort while they’re at sea.
